He graduated from Ankara University in 1966, specializing in landscape architecture. He studied in Paris both at a language school and at the Ecole Nationale Superieure De Paysage Paris in his professional field. He served as vice dean at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University between 1987 and 1993, as vice rector between 1996 and 2000, and was promoted to the title of professor at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1988. He served as rector between 2000-2006 and retired on his own accord in March 2006; he also served as the President of the Interuniversity Board of Arts Education Council between 2000-2006. He was the President of the Interuniversity Council between 2004-2005. Between 2006-2007, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kadir Has University. He served as the Dean of Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Art and Design in 2007-2009, as the Head of the Department of Art Management at Istanbul Kültür University in 2008-2009, as the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Aydın University in 2010-2011, as the Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture at Işık University in 2011, and has been working as the Head of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University since 2017.
