Özet

This paper describes the works and studies made in one Industrial Plant in TURKEY, to upgrade the existing 45 MW electrical generation capacity to 85 MW through an interconnection between the existing generation systems and national electrical network. Through this extension major modifications have been made in connection lines between Industrial Plant electrical system and national electrical network and the electrical distribution system in order to restore the system reliability, operational flexibility and equipment maintainability. In this study, main design criteria, power system analyses, two level medium voltage and low voltage distribution system installation, automation, load control of generation, distribution and control room revision during the extension project are reviewed. The aim of this paper to make recommendations based on the learning experiences during the implementation of this project and to assist the reader faced with a similar major industrial plant expansion projects.
