In this study, two unique annular ring microstrip patch antennas for Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM-1800/1710-1880 MHz) and radio navigation (radar) in S-band (2000-4000 MHz) are designed. The antennas are comprised of an annular ring patch with two rectangular slots, a ground plane with four rectangular and two triangular slots, and a dielectric substrate in between. Edge length of each square antenna is 180 mm. Substrate material is air with a height of 6 mm. The antennas are fed by a 50-ohm coaxial probe. Depending on the feed location, resonant frequency and therefore the application choice is obtained. Simulation results for the antenna performance parameters such as bandwidth, radiation pattern and maximum gain are presented for both designed antennas.
