This work is the revised and enlarged version of my dissertation, which has been prepared during the academic year of 2015-2016 in the Queen Mary University of London, as part of my postgraduate study. The original thesis with the title ‘The Role of International Criminal Court in the Fight Against International Crimes and Genocide’ was submitted to and accepted by the same university in the same year. The crime of genocide is regarded by the World States in general as one of the most grievous and heinous crimes in the world. It is called by the United Nations as an ‘atrocity crime’ together with war crimes and crimes against humanity. Genocidal acts are also believed to influence the ‘core dignity of human beings’. At the same time, the crime of genocide is accepted to be one of the most serious threats to world peace, security, and stability. The aim of this work is to deal with the crime mentioned above from the viewpoint of the universal jurisdiction and in this respect whether the International Criminal Court has enough power or not with regard to the universal jurisdiction. In this work, the examples of genocidal acts have not been treated in detail. Because, the aim of the work was to emphasise more the universal punishment of this crime, rather than the crime itself. As will be indicated in the introduction part, the work consists of four chapters together with an introduction and a conclusion sections as well as a bibliography, an index and appendices
