Abstract

This chapter examines the role of digital transformation in shaping women’s entrepreneurship within the tourism sector. As digital technologies redefine tourism business operations, they create new opportunities for women to access global markets, manage financial resources independently, and engage in more flexible work arrangements. However, these opportunities are often constrained by persistent gender-based barriers, including limited digital and financial literacy, entrenched socio-cultural norms, and the underrepresentation of women in leadership and technology-intensive roles. By critically analyzing both the empowering potential and the structural limitations of digitalization, the chapter underscores the necessity of inclusive strategies that extend beyond technological access to address deeper structural inequalities and support women’s full participation in the digital tourism economy.
