Introduction: Bariatric surgery is currently the most effective treatment for morbid obesity, providing substantial benefits in terms of weight loss, remission of comorbidities, and overall quality of life (QoL) improvement. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is the most commonly performed bariatric surgical procedure worldwide. Aim: This study aimed to compare QoL pre-operatively and at 1 year post-op, and weight loss after sleeve gastrectomy (SG). Methods: This retrospective study was conducted between October 2023 and 2024. A total of 127 consecutive patients completed the initial pre-operative questionnaire. At 1 year after SG, 15 patients were lost to follow-up, and a total of 112 patients were included in a study evaluating QoL after 1 year post-op. The patients were divided into 2 groups: preoperative and 1 year postoperatively. We examined patient demographics, occupation, social status, comorbidities, medical and surgical history, weight and height, body mass index (BMI), and pre-operative QoL. In addition, we compared the clinical examination, BMI, and Qol after 1 year of surgery. Results: Sixty of the participants were female (52%). The mean age was 37.1 ±13.21 years, BMI 41.2 ±6.12. The mean weight was 115 ±20.32 kg. After 1 year, there was a significant improvement in all comorbidities. The results of the The Moorehead-Ardelt Quality of Life Questionnaire II (MA II) revealed that the score of the MA II questionnaire rose after surgery. The results of QoL revealed that the good and very good QoL improved after surgery. Conclusions: This study demonstrates LSGas an effective primary treatment for obesity, as evidencedby long-termimprovements in the QoL.
